My Story
How to Start an Educational Revolution
Welcome to Scholastic Revolutionary Mission. All about educational empowerment and positive and meaningful change globally. My mission is 8 years in the making. After years of being an educator within the classroom and as an educational leader, nationally and internationally (in public, charter, and international school settings), I felt it was time to share my thoughts, experiences, lessons, and expertise with parents, teachers, and other educational stakeholders.
I am a Doctoral Candidate of Educational Leadership and have a Master’s in Secondary Education. I have over 15 years in the Field of Education and 2 year of Career Advising. I spent most of my career working as a Social Studies Teacher, Special Education Teacher, MTSS/RTI Intervention Specialist, and Educational Leader throughout the state of Florida. I also home school both of my children.
I previously worked for an International school in Saudi Arabia and have plenty of stories to share, although my stay was cut short due to Covid19. More recently, SRM was honored with the opportunity to work with a For-Profit and a Non-profit organizations in Liberia, and Sierra Leone West Africa.
Although my story is unique to me, and I may have very interesting and sometimes unbelievable experience as an educator to share, I have learned that many of those experiences (especially the less positive ones) were not exclusive to me. Much of the harsh and darker side of education, unfortunately, is systematic issues many teachers face all around the world. They face them alone and may be ostracized by both their leadership and other colleagues. It is no wonder that teachers lead in the highest levels of turnover, with school retention rates nearly as low as trainers for the Navy SEALS. It is time to right these wrongs!
SCHOLASTIC REVOLUTION MISSION
The overall purpose of this mission is to provide insight to the daily life of an educator, provide educational tips, and focus on the latest trends and issues within the educational sector. I wanted to create a space where truth and accountability about education can be discussed openly; a space where students, parents, and educators can have those much needed but sometime difficult conversations about education. So I hope you join me on this mission to make changes to the world of education for the better.
